The substation is supplied with 230 kV transmission line from the Bangkapi substation at about 7.1 kilometers distance via two circuits of 230 kV oil-filled underground cable directly buried along the right of way of the eastern railroad and two other streets. Since Chidlom substation has been in operation for more than twenty years and the cables have undergone a series of repair mainly due to oil leakage, they are now in unreliable condition and needed to be changed. Feasibility studies done by MEA show that new cables should be installed in a tunnel about 2.6 meters inside diameter to be constructed mainly beneath the right of way of a canal Sansab.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Consortium of Thai Consultants and international specialists for tunnel design, HV cable accommodation and substation design, ATT, Tokyo Electric Power Services Co. (TEPSCO), Electricite&#8217; de France (EDF) and TEAM Consulting Engineering and Management Co., Ltd.
